Staying Positive During Challenging Times

If you are anything like me, with the decrease in human interaction during this time you have realized it is more important than ever to keep a positive mindset.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have found it is necessary to not only stay focused, but also physically and mentally healthy in order to trudge my way through this. Because of this challenging time for business, we need to be more innovative and positive than ever before.

STAY FOCUSED ON THE THINGS YOU CAN CONTROL

I am taking time during this pandemic to do many things, such as connect virtually with family, follow-up with previous customers, and check-in on suppliers/dealers.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the day-to-day or the busy work that we forget to stop and take a breath. This is giving me a nice opportunity to clear my plate off from some of the things I needed to get done, but never seemed to find the time.

I am getting to focus on growth ideas to implement when business gets back to a steady state again. This has helped me look at business a new way, my customer reach, virtual capabilities—so many things.

It’s important to stay physically and mentally healthy. Take walks, clear your head. Having good mental health depends on our mindset. When I take walks, it actually recharges my batteries and gives me peace of mind.

Stay positive, get plenty of sleep. Try not to worry about business or the changes in updates received. Acknowledge these uncertain times, but please do not let them overwhelm or consume you—this too shall pass.

FOLLOW HEALTH GUIDELINES

Make sure you are keeping yourself and family safe. Keep washing your hands and observing social distancing.

It is always smart to keep proper PPE and health products with you: gloves, masks, hand sanitizer, etc.

Another thing that can help during this time is to make sure your office buildings and equipment are thoroughly cleaned. Clean door handles, chairs, tables—the high-touch areas.

You want to make sure you are using this time to get everything cleaned to keep customers safe.

TAKE TIME FOR YOU

Do things you have not always had time to do. This could be around the office, at the house, or with family.

Things typically move so fast, use this time to reset, prioritize, goal plan. Focus on the right things you and your family can do for precautions. I am actually planning a family vacation during this time to have something to look forward to.

KINDNESS GOES A LONG WAY

Along the road are many signs that have “Just Be Kind” written on them. It is so true; a little kindness can go a long way.

We are in this together and it can remind us how vulnerable we are. Be kind to the folks you see at the grocery store, as we are all looking for the same items, or the cashier—people are all around us—and we will come out of this stronger than ever before. Make it a priority to encourage and uplift everyone you can during these challenging times.

Please stay safe, stay healthy, and keep a positive mindset.
