Two-Story Studio Shed Building

Highly customized structure includes ADU with garage space.

Anne and John Vernon live in Santa Rosa, California, on an absolutely stunning piece of property on the coast of California.
What started as the need for an art studio expanded into a great ongoing relationship with Tuff Shed, according to the company.
Anne sat down with the team and designed her art studio. She noted that the process was super easy, and she loved all the customization options.
Her studio design includes French doors on two sides with high windows and a skylight. The 12 by 20 Premier Pro Studio was built quickly, and John finished the interior himself. A lifetime of being an artist means lots of supplies and pieces, and her new studio gave her plenty of room to keep everything organized. The building has also served her well as a beautiful place to create with an ocean view.
One of the most interesting aspects of Anne and John’s property is that they have three and a half acres—that’s a lot of room to play with.
Anne and John’s second building is a beast. Their new 20 by 28 Premier PRO Studio Garage has two stories. Not only is this a garage space, but it’s also an ADU (accessory dwelling unit). The building has an overhead garage door, residential doors, transom windows, sliding windows, and interior stairs. They even added solar panels on the roof.
This is not a typical building, but the team in Santa Rosa completed this highly customized garage for Anne and John exactly as they wanted.
“All the people were wonderful, just great to work with,” Anne says about the Santa Rosa team.
The Vernon’s will probably live in their ADU off and on, and their family may be spending some time there as well. Beyond the extra living space, Anne and John have actually added monetary value to their property with the buildings.
The buildings have helped to transform their property into a retreat—a great piece of land that’s now a home.
Anne and John love their buildings and can’t stop talking about how the approach to a prefab building was a perfect solution for them.
Anne adds that Tuff Shed is “really showing that you can create beautiful spaces that are durable, efficient, affordable, and have way less impact on the environment.”
