Build of the Issue: Forester Style

Space is being used as a Reiki studio for a local small business.

The Original Mini Barns in Lynnwood, Washington, is a builder of high-quality accessory structures, and co-owner Tony Curran shared some insights and details about the following structure with Shed Business Journal.

What type of structure is this? What is its main usage?

This is our Forester-style shed which has a 3:12 pitch single slope roof. The space is being used as a Reiki studio for a local small business.

What are its dimensions?

16 wide by 12 deep.

What are some of the materials used in the structure.

Exterior James Hardie lap siding, interior tongue-and-groove pine, Codel full lite fiberglass doors, and Ply Gem windows.

What tools and other equipment do you use during the build process?

Miketa power tools (primarily).

What do you like best about building this structure?

Our favorite part of working on this project is collaborating with the customer to bring her vision to reality. The studio had been something she envisioned for a long time but ran into roadblocks with permitting and finding the right contractor.

Seeing the final result in how the customer furnished and now utilizes the space is especially gratifying.

What is most challenging about the build? How do you overcome the challenge?

The most challenging part of this project was working through the permit process. This jurisdiction requires a building permit for all structures over 120 square feet.

We’ve become familiar with specific requirements in that city and have built a reputation for meeting all code requirements.

What do your customers say about this structure?

Our customers love the amount of natural light that enters the space, sleek side windows, and overall design.

Please share any other information/thoughts about this structure.  We take great pride in being a small business who helps other small businesses.
