Hilltop Structures, located in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee, northwest of Nashville, is trying something new this spring.

Screened backyard pavilions.

“It’s a new product, and we are just testing it at this point,” says owner Dave King. “It appears to be an item that might help jump start the work in early spring.”

The idea is to keep folks protected from the elements in their back yards.

“You can relax, read a book, or take in the scenery without being bothered by those pesky insects,” King says.

The company offers two versions of the pavilion: standard and deluxe. The main difference is that the deluxe model offers an electrical package and the interior isn’t finished with plywood or stained. The deluxe model also has a 5/4 treated decking floor board compared to the standard model’s 5/8-inch treated plywood floor.

Hilltop Structures displayed the new pavilion at the 2017 Nashville Lawn & Garden Show, March 2-5.

“Ours (pavilions) are a bit labor intense, so the jury is still out on the feasibility of them,” King says.
