Pittsburgh Paints Names Stain Color of the Year, Launches Industrial Line

The Pittsburgh Paints Company shares that Black Oak has been selected as the 2026 Stain Color of the Year and that it has introduced its TRU-INDUSTRIAL ™ line.

The company’s woodcare brands, OLYMPIC® Stains and PITTSBURGH PAINTS & STAINS® have selected Black Oak as the 2026 Stain Color of the Year. A warm, versatile neutral with deep forest tones, Black Oak is bold but balanced, modern yet familiar.

Inspired by naturally aged wood, it brings warmth and depth to outdoor spaces, encouraging homeowners to stain with intention across seasons and styles.

As a semi-transparent stain, Black Oak is forgiving and durable, dark enough to hide dirt, scuffs, and wear, while still allowing the natural wood grain to shine.

The TRU-INDUSTRIAL™ line is the company’s new industrial coatings brand offering innovative technologies for a wide range of applications. The brand’s product portfolio will serve industrial applicators in various sectors including transportation, building materials, sheds, trailers, and heavy-duty equipment, delivering powerful protection against tough environments.

“This launch is an exciting opportunity for us to better serve the industrial coatings segment with new, innovative solutions,” says Dennis Karnstein, president and general manager – commercial, The Pittsburgh Paints Company. “The PITTSBURGH PAINTS™ TRU-INDUSTRIAL™ brand positions us as the single-source coatings supplier for our customers, providing them with world-class technology, dedicated industrial products, and local, quality services built on the heritage of a business with over 150 years of expertise.

“Our expert PITTSBURGH PAINTS™ TRU-INDUSTRIAL™ brand specialists are dedicated to helping our customers and partners accelerate their business.”
