When the days seem to grow longer and we finally begin to thaw out after winter, spring is a great time to really promote and grow your business.
When I think of spring, I think of spring cleaning (my business). Every year I assess what’s working in my business and what is not working.
A “spring clean” to me means out with the old and in with the new. This time of the year always makes me feel more refreshed, personally and professionally.
Spring has always been a time for me to embrace new opportunities, broaden my horizons, and set new goals. My positivity always increases when the sun is shining bright and customers are out stirring around.
Here are a couple of things that I do for “spring cleaning” that has enabled me to keep things fresh at my shed business while staying focused.
BRIGHTEN UP YOUR LOT WITH NEW SIGNS AND STREAMERS
This has always been one of my favorite things to do. I always strive to keep my shed lot looking good and alive. I have the wind-guys, streamers, wind flags, POS (point of sale) materials, and the latest brochures that I use to help attract folks to stop at my location.
I have learned that it is absolutely imperative to keep my location popping with new looks in order to avoid looking stale and stagnant.
I also increase my social media posts and ads and make sure that my website is up to date with new pictures and correct pricing, while striving to target the right audience.
I am a huge advocate for putting price labels on my buildings. It is so important to double-check and make sure that each structure is priced correctly, with correct monthly payments, etc.
I also encourage you to police your lot by picking up trash, filling your displays with plenty of brochures, keeping your office neat and tidy, and also having cold waters available for your customers to enjoy.
The more inviting your lot is, the more successful you will be.
GET REFOCUSED ON MMA (MONEY-MAKING ACTIVITIES) AND AVOID DISTRACTIONS
This is a big deal, and I cannot stress enough the importance of this.
Money-making activities include tracking your leads, lead follow-up, asking your previous customers for referrals, and staying completely focused on sales while at work. I try to fill my entire day with these activities.
You see, if you are constantly doing the deal (MMA), you don’t have time to indulge in negativity and this will help you avoid “stinking thinking” that will sabotage sales.
You cannot believe how fast time goes by when you are calling, texting, and emailing your customers, asking for reviews and fixing any customer issues that arise. Taking massive action and immersing myself in these activities is my No. 1 goal daily.
I also schedule live remotes with local radio stations during this time to help folks understand what it is that we do and offer. During these radio remotes, I have a food truck on hand for folks to enjoy.
This is also a wonderful opportunity to invite your previous customers back out to show them appreciation for their business as well! I always try to have a “grand opening” mindset to keep things fresh and new, especially during this time of year.
I also encourage you to avoid distractions such as discussing politics, sports, and other controversial subjects while at work because this is the kiss of death for sales. If you have a television (electronic income reducer) at your office, I recommend keeping it turned off.
Spring cleaning is more of a frame of mind than a time of year. It is a chance to hit the restart button and get refocused on maximizing growth and new opportunities.Â
It is never too late to make adjustments and get back on track. The time is now.
