Company Moves from Trade-Show Booths to Tiny Home/She-Shed Market

Mod Shed, based in Kennesaw, Georgia, launched its first series of innovative modular sheds that can be used as tiny homes, off-grid living spaces, she-sheds, backyard offices, cabins and more in March.

Founded by the Groff family, Mod Shed was a natural pivot from the family’s other business, Team One Exhibits. The trade show industry as a whole suffered catastrophic losses when it came to a halt as a result of the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, forcing them to look for new ways to keep the family’s 18-year-old business operating.

“We all sat down as a family and said what are we going to do? This is not going to recover any time soon,” says CEO Bill Goff. “We had a meeting a week later and came up with this idea. We have the tooling and skills necessary to market a new business. We’ve been full bore ever since. The trade show industry has taught us to improvise, overcome, and adapt.”

The modular design was inspired by trade-show booths that demand a show-stopping, easy, and quick-to-assemble design. The company says that the system is so simple to install, anyone can handle the task; however, with Team One’s nationwide network of labor contractors, Mod Shed can arrange for installation upon request.

The company says its modular shed system can be assembled quickly and without professional contractors. Upgrades including solar panel integration and HVAC readiness can be added to any kit.

Mod Shed says it offers customers an affordable, easy-to-build, modern shed solution that can be assembled in an afternoon.

The company says its shed design is made to withstand the elements and exist as either a permanent or temporary structure, increasing home values with added livable square footage. Mod Sheds are completely customizable with functionality serving nearly any modern purpose. Assemblers can make design changes on the fly while assembling thanks to the proprietary modular design.

From design to delivery, Mod Sheds says a structure can be at a customer’s door in as little as a week.

Mod Shed will debut its series of sheds at the United Tiny House Association’s 5th Annual Tiny House Festival in Conyers, Georgia, on July 11 and 12.
