McGrath Lumber, Capital Forest Merge

McGrath Lumber is expanding its manufacturing and distribution presence in New England, the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond, by merging with Capital Forest.

According to McGrath Lumber owner Paul McGrath, the deal for Capital Forest to purchase McGrath Lumber was finalized December 2, 2019.

Capital Forest, a lumber distribution company, had been a customer of McGrath’s for many years. Together, the two entities decided to merge to benefit from the market strengths of the other.

With McGrath’s expertise manufacturing lumber and Capital Forest’s established distribution channels, the merger just made sense, says McGrath.

The combined expertise, additional locations, and complementary synergies between the products and sectors both companies serve will “no doubt become an added benefit to all of our customers and suppliers,” he says.

While the McGrath Lumber moniker will remain on the lumber its manufactures for Capital Forest, “Everything will run through Capital Forest,” he says.

Currently, operations for New Hampshire-based McGrath Lumber include remanufacturing plants and distribution locations in the North East and Mid-Atlantic.

One goal of the merger, says McGrath, is to open facilities in the Midwest and/or Southeastern United States.
