New Website Continues Virginia Shed Builder’s Legacy

When JZ Utility Barns (now Yoder’s Quality Buildings) was founded by Jonathan Zook in 2001, little did the family know what all would soon transpire.

For the first few years, the Utility Shed Company based in Rural Retreat, Virginia, made slow growth as father and sons worked hard to get their new business off the ground.

Their story of loss and persistence is outlined in a new website recently launched to promote sheds, portable garages and dog kennels built in their small family operated company.

The new website, designed by E-Impact Marketing LLC, comes with the aim of selling more sheds locally and continuing the legacy that Jonathan began. His original vision for starting a storage shed business was to provide space and opportunity to work with his four sons.

Soon after moving to southern Virginia in 2001, JZ Utility Barns was launched and began providing sheds and garages in Virginia.

Besides sheds, the company offers structures such as dog kennels.

In the fall of 2003 tragedy struck. Jonathan was diagnosed with cancer and began a heavy treatment program. Chemo treatments made him very sick and in his third week he had a massive stroke. Nevertheless, to the delight of his family and friends, Jonathan was able to recover and rejoin the family in slowly growing their business.

Utility Shed Company continued to grow until 2013, when Jonathan faced the grim news of the vengeful disease’s return. Again, he fought hard to live, reports his wife, Mary Ann who now assists her sons in running the shed and garage company, but within two years “God called him home to suffer no more.”

The tragedy was a huge loss, but Mary Ann and the boys decided to press on with providing high quality utility sheds, portable garages and other outbuildings for customers in southern Virginia and northern North Carolina. Today one son Randall serves as the office manager and another son Justin is the shop manager.

The loss of their father is still keenly felt, but with God’s help they continue on.
